The spam load from Korea has become so great that some in the anti-spam
community now block email traffic from Korea. It is a sad fact if true, but it
has been widely reported that over the past three years much of the spam resulted
from wide open relays in poorly configured computers pushed out widely into Korean
schools. The spammers discovered these open machines, and abused them massively.
Some of these machines have been gradually identified and reconfigured, but Korea
still as a nation has taken no substantive action to stop the spam flowing through
and from its computers, and for many email from Korea remains completely blocked as
a consequence.
